1565 all over? We hear Jeffrey's polishing his gladiator's armour...

You'd think the Maltese's hatred towards the Turks would have ended with the Great Siege, and that the Maltese would have moved on by now.

Apparently it hasn't and they did not. Typical Maltese - once I have it in for you, I shall never like you again or everyone else will think I'm weak!

Jeffrey Pulcino Orlando is one such man.

Following deputy prime minister Tonio Borg's words - (There is no reason why Turkey should be excluded from the EU as long as the membership criteria were fulfilled and has been Malta's stand from the outset, Foreign Minister Tonio Borg said yesterday.) - he decided to throw one of his infamous tantrums. On Facebook, of course, because that's how he does politics nowadays - halli jurina kemm hu modern!

According to him, in fact:

Yes, Dr Tonio Borg (the mentioned foreign minister) is right in saying that. And lest it crossed your mind, we're not writing this to defend the latter - he really isn't our favourite politician.

Nevertheless, if Turkey does manage to fulfill the prerequisites, why shouldn't it be allowed to join the EU?

Why are you, Jeffrey, so afraid of "Turkey is too big, and will therefore exercise too much power within the EU?"

We'll tell why, even though we're quite sure you got that already.

Coolio Jeffrey is in reality showing outrageous signs of racism. Ironic, don't you think? "Accession would result in a big wave of Turkish immigrants", he tells us. Oh would it, Jeffrey? And why would that be so catastrophic? (Technically, we already have Turkish immigrants around...) Is it because they are, wait for it, Muslim? We think yes!

Don't worry, Jeffrey, some will back you. Like these very bright ones here:

And don't give us that political consolidation crap. Were you one of those who actually practiced what they preach, then you would have resigned your seat a while ago.

As a matter of fact, these words are very indicative of what sort of man we're dealing with here. He's one of those ready to jump on the most convenient of bandwagons. He did that with Divorce, now he's feeling all gay and saying Malta is lagging behind in legalizing gay marriage ( in reality it's at par with most of the European countries and USA states) so he's pondering on whether to propose another bill or not, and now, of course, he's trying to appeal to the xenophobic ones inhabiting these islands.

Rather antithetical, isn't it, Mr Pullicino Orlando? If you are in for liberalism, then you must shake off that one big cobweb that's adversely affecting your senses.

You know our stance when it comes to any form of discrimination - well, in reality you can't blame the people for being so myopic given that some of the people ruling the country are not any better.

It's good to see people are sussing him out...

  2. I seriously can't understand this man. he is pathetic and he knows people in reality can no longer stand him yet he tries hard because I feel he thinks he's helping the people of Malta. He really isn't and this stand of his really clashes with anything else he states and why? Oh because he doesn't like muslim people. He wouldn't mind having many russian or swedish people coming over though because he could be the playboy self.

  4. Europe is Europe. Asia is Asia. So Turkey must stay in their place because we won once against them and we can win again

  5. I find it really appalling that you write such stuff about people. How dare you say he is not a person of integrity? He is and how!!!! Why can't he say that Muslims are not to join Europe? Well no they shouldn't join because they belong in a different world. We have different traditions and different origins which although can be friends can never be family. European Union is like a family even though here in England we disregard it totally since it's a bankrupt community but honestly speaking they are different. Ask the Germans what havoc they cause there. And how about the French? There would be political adversities in one community which is not good. I believe that yes we should be friends but not allies because they might easily turn against the community itself.

  6. We are incredibly glad that you, like the others before you, have totally bore us out! How incredibly racist... We bet you pride yourself in being a liberal - yeah, the kind of liberal as understood by many Maltese unfortunately.

Do you sincerely believe that there aren't "adversities" in the EU? - as it is now, that is. Oh, how incredibly naive you are.
If you are really English - for your erroneous English indicates otherwise - then you must know that England itself is not very welcomed by many other member states (given it's ambiguity when it comes to anything European) ...but let's not put too fine a point there, shall we?

  7. Why do you even bother with him? He was never a real politician. He's just doing this to impress cause this is his chance given that he will not contest again, thank god. At least that won't be on the PN ticket..................if he does on behalf of someone else is anyone's guess.

  9. I am Turkish and to be honest I no care if Turkey is in UE or not but the comments are not good. I was student in Malta and I noticed that some people hated turkish men because when I say I am Turkish they look bad. Some are OK but I think that many people have bad idea of us because we are not what people think we are. We have problems in Turkey but many countries have another problems not only us. Don't be rude with us only because of religion topic you should see us as another country.

  10. IT WILL BE A TOTAL DISASTER IF TURKEY WILL JOIN THE EU, NO OFFENCE TO ANYONE BUT THAT IS THE UNIVERSAL TRUTH. That will be the end of the world if 2012 is not!!!!

    1. Universal truth, huh? Is it written in the Bible, or something? No, wait, you're a prophet announcing the end of the world, aren't you?

Good thing you chose not to reveal your identity, dear Anonymous.

    2. No it is not but I assure you either way.
Fine then, let Turkey join the EU. When it does and when the problems start (wishful thinking Turkey will get better if it does join the EU).... you just think of what I told you before dearest.

    3. And what, exactly, convinces you that all European countries are much better?
We've had problems with some countries lately - Greece, Italy, Spain... so what should we do? Chuck them out?
No, wait, they are culturally similar to us, so we should turn a blind eye, shouldn't we?

If you only think of what may happen, then you should better lock yourself up in your room so that you'll always be safe. No, wait, what if there'e an earthquake? What if... What if... ?

Your reasoning is based on pure religious discrimination. Period. You'll try to conceal it, but your comment speaks a million words!
